Prague

Prague is in the heart of Central Europe, straddling the Vltava River, and serves as the political, cultural, and economic center of the Czech Republic. Today, Prague is dealing with rapid urbanization and population growth, which are putting increasing pressure on housing, infrastructure, and public services. At the same time, the city must preserve its cultural heritage while promoting sustainable development and climate resilience. To address these issues, on a city and regional level the Metropolitan Plan of Prague proposes a comprehensive strategy that emphasizes the quality of public spaces, height regulation, and the revitalization of underused areas. At the district level, the transformation of the vast Bubny brownfield into a mixed-use district, featuring cultural institutions and climate-adaptive urban design, aims to address both population growth and housing shortage. Small-scale projects like Vybiralka 25 aim to revitalize aging housing estates through participatory design, social innovation, and green infrastructure, contributing to a more vibrant and resilient neighborhood.
